Facilities

The Clinic is located 60 miles south of the Artic Circle in the northern swedish town of Luleå with close contact by train and air traffic to Stockholm, Europe and the world. The town of Luleå has a population of 74 000 and the county of Norrbotten has a population of 250 000. The studies draw patients and subjects from the entire county of Norrbotten.

Hermelinen Reseach is comprised of a 10 bed in-patient unit and fully equipped to conduct phase 1, 2 and 3 studies. The Clinic works closely with two GP clinics within close proximity to Luleå that are also a part of the Hermelinen Health Care Group.

The clinic has a close relationship with the local hospital, Sunderby Hospital. Sunderby Hospital serves all of Norrbotten. Recruiting for patient studies is often conducted in close participation with specialists at this hospital. The hospital´s certified labs are used in many of the studies. The pharmacy and dedicated pharmacists with clinical study experience work in close collaboration in the preperation, labelling and distrubution of investigational products.

Luleå university of Technology is the northernmost university of technology in Scandinavia with a Department of Health Sciences. The head of Medical Sciences, Yelverton Tegner, M.D Ph. D. was one of the founders of the clinic. The nearness of the university and cooperation with the department is a strength for Hermelinen Research.
